What the: Shilpa Shetty goes bald?
Here's an example of how creative freedom can be smothered by commercial enterprises. In a blatant show of bullying tactics, a major cosmetic company put its foot down after reading a news report that Shilpa Shetty be shaving off her hair. A source close to Shilpa reveals she was all set to sacrifice her mane. Alerted by the news report the cosmetic company compelled Shilpa to change her plans.
Must-see: Shilpa and Akshay back together
On Tuesday in Kollam, Kerala, she went bald for the camera. But the baldness was induced by prosthetics.
"I'd have loved to shave off my hair. But my other commitments put an end to my plans. The bald prosthetics were done by an amazing makeup artiste named Vidyadhar. It took him three hours to make me look bald. And after I finished shooting it took an hour to take off the bald makeup."

Shilpa insisted on doing all the bald scenes in one day.
"Getting into the bald make up again would've been impossible. But what we've shot is amazing. Being hairless makes you look so vulnerable and childlike. I felt I had gone back to my childhood," Shilpa said from the location where film Desire is being shot.
Shilpa regrets not going the whole hog.
"Seeing myself in bald prosthetics liberated me. I wish I could've actually shaved of my hair. When Aamir Khan tonsures his head and it becomes a fashion statement. But we girls have to go by the market definitions of glamour."

Kangana reprises traumatised woman’s role in ‘Raaz’
Film: “Raaz: The Mystery Begins”;
Cast: Kangana Ranaut, Emran Hashmi, Adhyayan Suman; Director: Mohit Suri; Rating:
**A new kind of cinematic heroine was born with Kangana Ranaut in the underrated “Gangster”. Since then, she has played the dark traumatized woman baring her soul for the camera so many times that you fear her forte would burst open at the seams.
Make no mistake…”Raaz” belongs to her. As a woman possessed, she carries on this past year’s horror tradition propagated by Vikram Bhatt’s “1920″ and Ram Gopal Varma’s “Phoonk”.
Admittedly, the horror-fest in “Raaz” is created with more finesse than the other fear flicks that have invaded the large-screen in recent years. But you wonder if this kind of blind faith is not blinding filmmakers to the larger picture regarding the raison d’etre of cinema - to enlighten and educate while entertaining.
Sorry to say but “Raaz” is neither entertaining nor enlightening. And educational? Well to say that spirits exist, and not just in champagne glasses, in this day and age is going a bit too far.
“Raaz” parades a posse of perverse horrors. Often it goes brazenly overboard with faces made-up like over-boiled potatoes and ghouls attacking the horrified heroine in a thick jungle where she, and the director, have no business being.
If in “Gangster”, “Woh Lamhe” and “Fashion”, Kangana was possessed by demons from within, here the demons appear to have invaded her body from the outside, jumping at her from bathtubs and mirrors.
On the whole, the narrative relies too heavily on false scares…hands reaching out and grabbing Kangana that turn out to be known comforting ones, door knobs being wrenched from the outside with banshee-like music to create a frenzy of suspense, satanic rites and occultist acts being performed in the dead of the night.
When it comes to expressing the wages of sin, Kangana remains unsurpassable. She pulls out all stops to deliver yet another fearless performance that’s a treatise on trauma. Unlike her last act in “Fashion”, in “Raaz” she suffers from an ambiguously-written character although she occupies more space than her two leading men. Till the end, we don’t know what her actual involvement with the macabre goings-on is.
We suspect, neither does the screenwriter.
Emran Hashmi, as the sullen painter who paints harrowing scenes from Kangana’s life before they happen, brings a kind of austere urgency to his part. Looking anguished comes naturally to him. Adhyayan Suman as the reality-television anchor, who carries his penchant for staged realism too far, communicates a certain earnestness in his performance. But he has a long way to go.
Alas, “Raaz” isn’t the vehicle to take its actors too far. It’s all about making the audience jump out of its seat in horror rather than with aesthetic delight. Its cumbersome heebie-jeebies punctuated by special effects, which can at best be described as slightly scary, do nothing for the horror genre or for the actors who struggle in ill-written parts.
Director Mohit Suri has done better for himself in “Kalyug” and “Woh Lamhe”, where he addressed himself to the trauma of a woman forced into a life of reluctant disrepute. Perhaps a woman coerced is more Suri’s domain than a woman possessed.
This sequel to “Raaz” is finally worth watching for Kangana’s portrait of traumatized womanhood. An act she has mastered. But it’s time now to move on.

Amrita Arora’s Marrige
Contrary to reports that Amrita Arora and Shakeel Ladak will tie the knot on March 2, the actress will get married to her businessman beau on Amrita Arora and Shakeel Ladak
Earlier there were reports that the wedding would take place on Amrita’s mother Joyce’s birthday on March 2.
Although Amrita is not divulging any details about her big day, a source close to the family revealed that the wedding is expected to be a three-day grand affair and the celebrations will start on March 4.
We hear that Amrita wanted to get married in Goa but the couple finally decided to have a Mumbai wedding instead. Our source said, “Amrita and Shakeel will get married on March 6 and it will be a grand affair. A traditional mehendi ceremony will take place on March 4, followed by a sangeet ceremony on March 5 and a church wedding on March 6. Amrita wanted to get married in a church and Shakeel has been quite supportive of her decision. However, the church where they will get married is yet to be finalised.”
Busy with the wedding preparations, Amrita’s sister Malaika Arora Khan was spotted at a designer’s boutique last week. Malaika has already finalised her outfit. However, Amrita is yet to finalise a designer for her trousseau. “Amrita has many designer friends. She is just undecided about whom she should ask to design her wedding gown,” added the source.
While Amrita’s wedding gown is far from ready, she has completed shopping for her jewellery from a popular store in Bandra.
The entire shopping was done by Amrita’s sister Malaika and mother Joyce. Amrita has also hired a wedding planner, who is painstakingly planning all the details of the wedding.
We tried calling Amrita but she was unavailable for comment.

Katrina Seeks Clarification From ‘Saamna’ On False Marriage Report
Mumbai: Bollywood lovebirds Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif have always been media’s favourite for various reasons, and Salman has often been quoted expressing his offence against the write-ups about his love life. But this time, a news piece published in the famous newspaper ‘Saamna’ has infuriated the couple to the core, especially Katrina, as it has published a story which claims that Salman has already tied the nuptial knot with Kat, and the news has been given out by none other than Salman’s father Salim Khan.
In the news piece printed in ‘Saamna’, Salim Khan has disclosed in a write-up that the two stars are married now. ‘Religion is not a bar for family’, he added.
Reacting to the news piece, Katrina said, “This is not acceptable. They can’t make such a mistake about somebody’s life. It’s such a big newspaper, they should be careful about what they are writing. They should issue a clarification if not an apology on what has been published.”
“My manager is speaking to them, as I am working right now, but people must be reading the newspaper everyday, and they should read a clarification tomorrow,” she added.
But ‘Saamna’ has reportedly rejected the news saying it was printed by mistake. A source reveals that as soon as the news was taken up by the other media, editor of ‘Saamna’ apologised saying the news was printed by mistake.
After clarifying the issue with Salman’s family members including Salim Khan and Helen, Katrina said, “I’ve spoken to Salim uncle about it and it’s a genuine misquote since the journalist must have got carried away, so I give him the benefit of doubt. But I believe that they have spoken to my manager and have accepted their mistake.”
When asked about her possible marriage plans with Salman, Katrina said, “There is still time to it, not for another three years at least. I’m very happy with my work right now. It’s only in the hands of God and destiny.”
