Facebook Give Warning Suspicious URL

Up working with the Finnish Internet security firm, Web of Trust (WOT), offers its Facebooker a feature that can protect users from suspicious links or URLs that were scattered on Facebook.

When a user clicks on a link up potential direct it to the site with a reputation for suspicious or dangerous based on the assessment WOT community, users will receive a warning message.

Mentioned WOT, the infamous site generally negatively charged content, phishing attacks (information theft), offering false services or other forms of fraud.

"Up to check the external links on the basis of a database containing the reputation of the site belongs to us. If the link is directed to a site with a negative reputation, the user will be warned and can find out more," said CEO Vesa Perala WOT explains its share in the quote feature.

WOT itself is a service that provides web site reputation data sources. This service allows users to evaluate a site and sharing information about dangerous sites. WOT is often used by the add on browser.

Perala said that this service does not block dangerous sites, but only warn users of potential risks that could befall him if clicking the link above.

"It's up to the user decides to continue to access the link or not," he said as quoted from PC World, on Monday (5/16/2011).

This feature was tested to one percent of Facebook users in the United States (U.S). After successful testing, this feature will be available to all users in the U.S and then held for users around the world.
