President of the United States (U.S.) for the first time Barack Obama deliver his foreign policy attitudes about the Middle East conflict. Obama supports the return of the Israeli - Palestinian border regions like before the Arab - Israel war of 1967.
"The border between Palestine and Israel should refer to the boundary line, 1967, and must be adjusted by agreement of both parties, thus achieved a secure and recognized borders by both sides," Obama said during a speech at the White House on Thursday (19/ 05 /2011) in the morning local time, such as direct broadcast TV station Al Jazeera.
Obama said, while the main issues of conflict between Israel and the Palestinians are being negotiated, the basis of these negotiations is already very clear. Palestinian state to live in peace, and a secure state of Israel.
"The United States strongly believes that these negotiations will result in something between the two countries, with clear boundaries between the Palestinians by Israel, Jordan and Egypt," said Obama
Obama in his speech acknowledged that the weight for all warring parties to initiate a negotiation, where hatred and suspicion has been planted on each side for several generations. But Obama convinced both the Israelis and Palestinians would prefer to see the future rather than trapped in a dark past.
Although the position as Israel's strongest ally, but Obama said that it was time the U.S. declared the truth, that the status-quo as it is now current, can not proceed. Israel also must do the maximum to ensure peace in the Middle East region.
Obama thinks peace between Israel and the Palestinians not only affect the two countries, but also can have a positive impact to the entire region.
"This is a choice between hate and hope, between the shadows of the past and a promising future. This is a good choice to be made by leaders or by the people, and choice is what will determine the future of a new regional security, secure and peace, "Obama said.
Before the Arab-Israeli war broke out in 1967, the territory of East Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza Strip is part of Palestinian territory. But because of the war the Arab states lost, areas previously controlled by Israel is now owned by Palestinians. Israel claims the territories as a result of the war booty.
