Mumbai, April 22 -- Sonam Kapoor's Freaky Friday remake won't hit the floors anytime soon. Father-producer-actor Anil Kapoor has put the Hindi remake of the Lindsay Lohan-starrer on an indefinite hold. Speculations about who in Bollywood will play the mother's role, essayed by Jamie Lee Curtis in the 2003 Hollywood film, have been rife.
Kapoor apparently wanted to cast Kirron Kher as the mother, but she turned down the role. Then, Madhuri Dixit was approached, but she too refused as she felt the role "didn't appeal" to her.

Ask Kapoor about the film and he shoots back: "There's no such film." So has he shelved it completely? "As a creative person you get 10 ideas, but you can't make films on all the thoughts that come to you. We thought of remaking Freaky Friday, and the next thing I see is stories about who is starring in the film among other speculations. Right now, I have no plans to start it. We will take it up only when we are satisfied with the script."

But the rumours don't stop here. Apparently Kapoor approached Sridevi for the same role, and if all goes well, she just may be playing the part. But industry insiders suggest she is unlikely to take it up as she's playing the female lead in R Balki's wife Gauri Shinde's debut film.
